UDTA CHALA SAKIB - Stopmotion film

UDTA CHALA SAKIB is a stopmotion film that I shot on my phone in my college dorm while I was stuck alone in the middle of the pandemic, endlessly stressed about my career, projects, internships, self growth yada yada. In this time of perpetual stress, I came across an intriguing character in my midst, Sakib, the food delivery van driver, who would drive around college campus four times a day, giving every student their meal one by one, lovingly called Sakib 'anna'(south indian term for big brother). Despite his 'boring' job, I'd always find him to be filled with patience and happiness. His contentment with his life intrigued me, and that is what inspired this film. In Udta Chala Sakib, I give myself space to explore his happiness. The film was shot with a very minimal set up in my room and I had a great time making it.

However, in the oncoming months after making the film, upon chatting with his wife who was part of the housekeeping team on campus, I discovered that Sakib Anna actually had a slight drinking problem and was fired for getting into multiple low injury drunk driving accidents. Turns out the secret to his happiness, contentment and and patience was just day drinking.
These models were made by me using some wire, MSeal Plaster and clay. I sewed the clothes using scrap fabric from old clothes.
This was the shooting set up in my room.
